The President of the Republic of South Africa commissioned this image as Presidential gifts to visiting heads of State.
The Freedom Charter united all Africans native to South Africa in their fight against the growth and movement of white nationalism across South Africa. Idealistic in its key points the Freedom Charter became the cornerstone of Nelson Mandela’s vision for a new constitution in 1996.
This is one of the earliest known inscriptions found of the Freedom Charter by Matthew Willman whilst commissioned with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
